Julien l'Hospitalier (Saint Julian the Hospitaller)
by Gustave Flaubert

In La Légende De Saint-Julien L'Hospitalier (The Legend of Saint Julian the Hospitalier), Julian, who is predicted at birth to do great things, turns instead into some kind of psychopath who kills every animal in sight. He is finally cursed by a stag to kill his own parents. Although he leaves home to avoid the fate, the curse will come to pass, unknowingly much like in the Oedipus story.

The later part of his story is one of Julan seeking redemption for his former life and finding it eventually.
