Mélicerte - Le ballet des muses (Melicerte, or The Ballet of the Muses)
by Molière

Mélicerte also referred to as Le Ballet des Muses (The Ballet of the Muses) is an unfinished heroic-pastoral which Molière had intended to compose, it is said, entirely to show off the talents of young Michel Boiron (known also as Baron) whom he loved like a son. Young Baron, however, quarreled with Molière's wife, and refused to stay with Molière, who, having no longer in view the end he had proposed to himself, put the play aside. It was acted but once, at the Fêtes of Saint-Germain, and called Le Ballet des Muses, on the 2nd of December, 1666. It was published posthumously in 1682.
