Carlo Collodi (pen name for Carlo Lorenzini)

Carlo Collodi —pen name for Carlo Lorenzini —(24 November, 1826 – 26 October 1890) was an Italian children's writer known for the world-renowned fairy tale novel, Le avventure di Pinocchio (The Adventures of Pinocchio).

His early works were politically involved but starting from 1875, he mainly published children's literature.

He started writing Pinocchio in 1880 and published it in installments in the weekly newspaper Il Giornale per i Bambini, the first Italian newspaper targeting children.

Carlo Lorenzini —is born in and died in Florence, Italy.
